The finalists in the Visionary Concepts category of the Crystal Cabin Awards 2020 provide a glimpse of the future of aircraft cabins. See what Airbus, AIM Altitude and AirGo Design have in store for passengers of the future…
Airbus is competing with an extension to its Airspace cabin design concept with the Airspace Cabin Vision 2030, which customises the cabin to each passengers’ individual needs via digital technology, and provides additional flexibility through innovative zones for seating and lounging.
The ARCA Galley System from AIM Altitude is an idea for the next generation of galleys. Instead of meal trays, passengers will be served recyclable food boxes (selected online in advance by the passenger), which can be efficiently stacked in the reconfigured galley, saving space.
The third finalist, the Galaxy seat from AirGo Design, is designed for long-haul flight comfort, with single-aisle aircraft such as the Airbus A321XLR in mind. The seat can be completely reclined and, with the help of partition walls, converted into a private sleeping area, making smart use of space in the narrow cabin.
