Safran Cabin has officially opened a new, 8,000m² facility in Rokycany, Czech Republic. dedicated to long-haul aircraft cabin products. The site is responsible for producing crew rest modules for cargo areas, lavatories and staircases for the Airbus A330, as well as next-generation galleys for Boeing 777 aircraft.
The site complements Safran Cabin’s other site in Czech Republic, located in Plzen, and brings the total footprint of the company’s facilities in the country to 26,000m². The Plzen plant has a focus on A320 products.
The Rokycany factory has been built for energy efficiency, and is equipped with cutting-edge technologies aimed at improving production capabilities, including advanced lighting and temperature control systems, which are crucial for adhesive operations. All critical processes were qualified before operations began, to ensure high production standards.
Alexandre Atayi, a project manager at Safran Cabin, explained the location of the new factory: “Rokycany is situated near the highway, on the way to Prague, ensuring an efficient supply chain and streamlined logistics.”
The proximity to the Plzen facility, a 20-minute drive away, was another factor in the decision. This location also provides access to a larger talent pool, crucial for meeting recruitment needs as the site is expected to create up to 250 new jobs once it reaches full capacity.
In order to ensure a smooth launch, approximately 80 experienced employees were transferred from the Plzen facility to the Rokycany site. “Many employees commute from Plzen, which is why partnerships with public transport organisations have been established,” said Dana Schwobova, human resources manager at the Rokycany facility. “Additionally, we are collaborating with the local employment agency to attract and recruit new talent from the surrounding area.”
