ABC International, known as a producer of airline cabin branding products and headrests, has decided to differentiate its offering and open an E-commerce shop selling air travel-related PPE products directly to passengers. As airlines mandate the use of masks by passengers, and nervous travellers have shown interest in hygienic seat covers and sanitising sprays amid the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, the company has decided to manufacture these products and offer them on the open market via its website, with availability in airport shops and alternative channels to follow.
The Fly Safe offer includes reusable protective face masks, made using custom technical fabrics that conform to the Oeko-Text Standard 100, a textile industry standard. The water-repellent masks are given a Sanitized TH 22-27 antibacterial treatment, which after use can be re-activated after washing at 40°C and then ironing for few seconds.
The disposable protective seat covers are made from a lightweight non-woven fabric and can be fitted in seconds to any economy-class aircraft seat, whether leather or textile covered. ABC says the covers protect the seated passenger from surface viruses and germs while seated.
A seat sanitising spray is also available, a hydrogen peroxide-based cleaning and disinfectant product that can remove or kills germs from surfaces. The spray has been tested for aircraft cabin use and is suitable for both leather and fabric seat covers.
The Fly Safe range is also available on a B2B basis, with companies or airlines able to order standard or customised versions.
“In a such difficult time we felt the need to study a solution not only for our trusted airline partners, but also for the real engine of the industry: the passenger,” stated Alberto D’Ambrosio, CEO of ABC International.
