Thousands of aviation professionals and enthusiasts will be heading to APEX Expo in Boston on September 24-27, an event organized by The Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX). However, there is something a little special available this year, which gives visitors the opportunity to begin to immerse themselves in next-generation technologies while they are en route to the show.
On September 22, Lufthansa will lay on a flyinglab A350 flight from Munich to Boston (Flight LH424), which will include a special gate event in Munich to set the mood, an exclusive pre-conference on board, and technology demonstrations. Lufthansa is organizing this flyinglab in cooperation with APEX and Lufthansa Systems.
“What better place to present and test new trends for passengers than in a plane?”, stated Joe Leader, CEO of APEX. “We are delighted to kick off our conference this year with the Lufthansa flyinglab. In addition to exclusive presentations by renowned industry experts, we will give APEX participants and all passengers the opportunity to try out innovative products on board and discuss new trends.”
The inflight conference over the Atlantic will feature six short presentations discussing the passenger experience of the future. The topics will range from innovative lighting concepts, modern cabin designs, and new seating and communication options. Videos of each 15-minute presentation on board will be streamed live via wi-fi to the passengers’ own devices, so they can have a good view, regardless of where they are sitting in the plane. Passengers can also send questions to the speakers via their devices, which will be answered live afterwards.
Along with presentations, guests on the flyinglab can test new passenger experience products on the eight-hour flight to Boston. Technologies will include VR glasses from Skylights as well as a smart temperature regulating blanket with integrated at neck pillow from feel.flight, among others.
Participation in the Lufthansa flyinglab APEX Expo is free, although the flight itself is not – passengers need to book a ticket for Flight LH424 on September 22, 2018, from Munich to Boston. More information about the speakers and the flight can be found at LH.com/FlyingLab-APEX2018.
