A joint bid made by Tangerine and Mormedi, two international design consultancies, has been selected as one of two partners to work with Deutsche Bahn over the next five years on the design of its new generation of high-speed trains. Tangerine and Mormedi will collaborate with Deutsche Bahn in the design and development of interiors concepts and exterior livery designs.
The announcement follows a rigorous year-long evaluation by Deutsche Bahn to identify the ideal design partners for the project. The process assessed various agencies in terms of their creativity, technical expertise, depth of experience, team composition, and ability to collaborate effectively. According to the studios, the Tangerine-Mormedi partnership emerged as a top contender, earning recognition for its process, strategic competence, storytelling, innovative approaches to seating and interiors, CMF design, and material & sustainability expertise.
The Tangerine-Mormedi partnership combines decades of expertise in transportation design. Both agencies have extensive experience of working with rail operators and rolling stock manufacturers on large-scale projects within complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
Tangerine, which is the lead agency in the partnership, has three decades of transport mobility design experience, having worked on numerous train, aircraft interior, and transport seating projects globally. Tangerine has creative and technical expertise in rail car design and seating innovation, which it will combine with culture and brand considerations to create the right designs for both the operator and its customers. As part of its design team for Deutsche Bahn, Tangerine also brings rail technical expertise from Charles Greenway, director at Atlantic Design Projects Ltd.
Partner agency Mormedi brings over two decades of expertise in strategic design and innovation, having worked extensively on rail car design and customer experience projects for operators and OEMs across different markets. The Mormedi team will apply their understanding of passenger needs, and integrate sustainable practices and cutting-edge technology. Mormedi also works in the aircraft interiors sector.
