Luxembourg-based carrier Luxair is installing Bruce Aerospace’s XLume LED lighting systems in its Boeing 737 fleet, with the first aircraft so equipped now entering commercial service. The system is a drop-in replacement for the OEM-supplied fluorescent cabin lighting fixtures.
Certification was achieved within the existing STC, which covers the fitment of new sidewall lights with lenses in neutral white, and ceiling lights with the bi-colour option of blue and white. In addition, Bruce is supplying forward and rear entry lights, reading lights, and no smoking/fasten seat belt signs. The installation of the “plug & play” LED fixtures was accomplished using the existing wiring and controls, according to Bruce Aerospace.
Laurent Thomas, deputy head of engineering and planning at Luxair stated that the system, “has enhanced the entire cabin, which will not only offer our passengers a more relaxed environment, it will save Luxair money through reduced maintenance and weight saving.”
