Passengers flying with Southwest Airlines on wi-fi-enabled aircraft can now listen to live music from iHeartMedia. Global Eagle’s customer engagement portal Airtime is used to stream the content.
Existing onboard amenities offered by Southwest include live television, movies on demand, games, a flight tracker, arrival/connection information and wi-fi service.
“We want to enable travelers to enrich their time inflight by bringing our broad and deep portfolio of solutions to create an at-home experience while flying,” said Per Norén, executive vice president and chief commercial officer at Global Eagle.
“Through the addition of iHeartRadio to Southwest Airlines aircraft enabled with Global Eagle’s wi-fi product, we are pleased to continue to partner to enhance the customer experience.”
Teams at Global Eagle worked around the clock to develop, test and deploy iHeartRadio on board Southwest aircraft, completing the work in three months.
