Rockwell Collins’ PAVES On-demand IFE system has become the first seat-centric solution to achieve OEM ‘technical offerability’ status for single-aisle aircraft, as it has been found to comply with all line-fit requirements for Airbus A320 universal platforms and Boeing 737s.
“This significant accomplishment validates PAVES On-demand as a viable in-seat IFE option for single aisles, and one that delivers maximum reliability at an incredible value,” said Greg Irmen, vice president and general manager of information systems for Rockwell Collins. “The seat-centric architecture makes maintenance of the system easier and faster, which keeps passengers satisfied and airline operating costs down.”
The system is equipped with a quick-release mechanism to simplify removal and replacement of in-seat displays. The system can also integrate with the PAVES Broadcast overhead IFE system, so airlines can configure cabins with – for example – in-seat IFE in first class and overhead IFE in economy.
Sichuan Airlines is the launch customer for PAVES On-demand, with deliveries scheduled to begin in early 2015.
