iPad-based IFE developer, Solid State Inflight, has entered into a partnership with In Flight Solutions (IFS), an inflight and operations aviation provider. The partnership has been created so that the companies can offer airlines an iPad-based IFE system with ground handling and logistics support.
As part of the partnership, Solid State will deliver early window content (EWC) including movies, TV episodes, magazines and games through a branded, customised user interface, while IFS will handle all technical and logistical issues on the ground, before and after take-off. The combined system is charged in a single per-flight fee, reducing capital outlay for airline customers. Meanwhile IFS handles all device management tasks such as content refreshes, software updates, syncing, etc, with the aim of offering a ‘zero-touch’ IFE solution.
“Solid State’s ability to perform remote content updates, along with our ground handling services, will make device management tasks much easier and ensure up-to-date quality entertainment for passengers on flights of any size,” said Bernardo Fonseca, president and CEO of IFS.
Solid State Inflight and IFS have already signed and deployed the first shared client, details of which will follow shortly.
