This month marks the 30th anniversary of Friends, the hugely popular and successful US sitcom starring Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer and Lisa Kudrow. Many passengers will be keen to watch the reruns, whether for the first time or for nostalgia, and travel media agency, Spafax, has created an option to help airlines celebrate the occasion.
Spafax has created a dedicated inflight entertainment (IFE) channel, titled ‘30 Years of Friends’, featuring a curated selection of 108 episodes from across the show’s 10 seasons, which ran from 1994-2004. For example, passengers on airlines that take on the channel can enjoy episodes such as the 1994 pilot episode, ‘The Pilot’ (also known as ‘The One Where Monica Gets a Roommate’), and ‘The First One’, and ‘The One Where It All Began’). The series averaged 25 million viewers per week throughout its 10-season run.
“Friends has been a passenger favourite for as long as it’s been available for IFE,”stated Rachael Harris-Boyce, senior account director at Spafax. “The show’s relatable characters, hilarious jokes, and the incredible on-screen chemistry between the actors make it universally accessible. Whether you’re watching Ross and Rachel’s rollercoaster romance for the first time or the fiftieth, Friends brings a sense of comfort that’s hard to beat. We are excited to offer this dedicated channel and are confident it will resonate deeply with passengers.”
