Dubai-based airline, Flydubai, has entered into a partnership with BBC Studios to include a children’s channel on its inflight entertainment (IFE) systems. The airline now offers children’s content on the BBC Kids channel, selected to keep pre-schoolers and older children entertained onboard. Passengers will have access to global programming including the Emmy Award-winning Hey Duggee and the multi-award-winning Bluey, which has been the most streamed series in the US this year so far.
For younger children, other programmes available on the system include the fun adventures of Supertato as he tries to beat off the evil pea, Andy’s Global Adventures, which takes viewers around the globe to explore nature’s mystery and animal behaviours, the thrill-seeking Go-Jetters, and the life-affirming series about the loving relationship between a four-year-old girl and her grandmother in JoJo & Gran Gran.
For older kids, programmes include wildlife expert Steve Backshall’s Deadly 60; and Steve & Aneeshwar Go Wild, where Steve teams up with young environmental enthusiast Aneeshwar to meet amazing animals and reveal the surprising and unusual ways they are connected in the wild. Also available to watch is Love Productions’ popular cooking competition Junior Bake-Off, educational historical sketch comedy series Horrible Histories, and Jamie Johnson, which tells the story of a young boy trying to achieve his dream of becoming a famous footballer.
Zina Neophytou from BBC News commercial development said of the deal: “We are proud to forge this new partnership with Flydubai to include BBC Kids as part of their lineup of top-quality inflight entertainment. Through this new collaboration, wider audiences outside the UK will have greater access to world-class children’s content from BBC Kids that educates, informs and entertains the next generation.”
Daniel Kerrison, senior vice president of Inflight Operations at Flydubai added: “We are excited to have partnered up with BBC Studios. We have always been committed to innovating our products and services and enhancing our passengers’ inflight experience.
