Taiwanese international airline, EVA Air, has signed an agreement with Panasonic Avionics for the installation of in-flight engagement (IFE) and connectivity systems, and a range of digital services, on 54 of its aircraft, both widebody and narrowbody.
Panasonic’s Astrova seat-end IFE systems will be installed on 18 of the airline’s new Airbus A350-1000s and 14 of its existing Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, along with its Marketplace e-commerce solution and Arc integrated moving map. Astrova features include 4K OLED displays, and high-fidelity audio, accessible through Bluetooth.
The deal will also see EVA retrofit 17 of its Airbus A321 fleet with Panasonic’s eXW wireless IFE solution, and install its NEXT and eX3 IFE systems on five Boeing 787-9 aircraft, along with connectivity services.
The NEXT and X Series IFE systems feature full HD seatback monitors, complete with capacitive touch displays and handsets, and an intuitive, personalised interface.
This agreement marks more than 20 years of successful cooperation between Panasonic Avionics and EVA Air, dating back to 2001.
