Croatia Airlines has signed an agreement for Panasonic Avionics to provide wi-fi services for the airline’s fleet of new Airbus A220s. The deal, which marks the flag carrier of Croatia’s first investment in inflight connectivity, will see Panasonic Avionics’ Ku-band satellite connectivity systems installed on the airline’s 15 new A220s by 2027. The first aircraft is set to enter service in June 2024.
The Ku-band antennas which will be installed on Croatia Airlines’ A220 fleet will connect each aircraft with Panasonic Avionics’ global communications network of high speed, high-bandwidth satellites.
The passenger experience will be complemented by the USB-A and USB-C ports due to be fitted at every seat on the new A220 fleet, together with seatback smartphone and tablet holders, so devices can be kept charged during flight.
Jasmin Bajić, CEO at Croatia Airlines said of the deal: “We are thrilled to announce the introduction of onboard connectivity for the first time in our 35-year history, coinciding with the arrival of the A220 aircraft. This agreement with Panasonic Avionics aligns with our mission to enhance the in-flight passenger experience and deliver top-quality connectivity to our valued customers.”
