Anuvu has upgraded its Dedicated Space inflight connectivity platform, which the IFEC provider claims has resulted in an increase of more than 35% in peak speed.
Dedicated Space is designed to optimise network performance by dedicating satellite capacity to individual aircraft and passengers, enabling a low-latency and reliable internet experience. The system was introduced in 2022, and in the same year it won the IFEC and Digital Services category of the Crystal Cabin Award.
Dedicated Space has now been implemented on more than 800 aircraft across six airline clients within North America and Europe. According to the company, these Anuvu-equipped aircraft have experienced a 2x increase in download speed, 4x increase in upload capability, and over 65% higher availability during satellite and beam changes than Anuvu’s legacy network platform.
Anuvu has also installed the ground segment for the upcoming start of the microGEO service, which included the next generation of the Dedicated Space system. With the upgrade, Anuvu says it has already seen more than a 33% increase in peak download speed.
“We’re excited to have such a positive response to the increasing demand for inflight connectivity performance,” said Mike Pigott, EVP for connectivity at Anuvu. “The results show extremely fast satellite handovers and the lowest latency of any GEO-based SATCOM system, meaning industry-leading performance for our airline [customers’] passengers.”
