IFE and cabin technology supplier, Burrana, has announced what it calls ‘one of the most significant milestones since the launch of the company in January 2019’: its RISE Power in-seat power supply system has entered the Airbus BFE catalogue. The system is now a selectable option for airlines specifying passenger power on the A320 family of aircraft. And indeed it has been selected, with two unnamed airlines representing 170 aircraft having opted for RISE Power for linefit on A320 and A321 aircraft.
Securing an entry in the Airbus BFE catalogue involved Burrana successfully completing hardware qualification testing requirements, gaining Airbus’s approval of associated certification documentation, and the successful delivery of the first aircraft into passenger service. Burrana’s inclusion in the catalogue shows the company has been deemed to be in line with the Airbus offerability process and in compliance with Airbus requirements and specifications.
Features of the RISE Power system include a compact USB seat box (USP) (around the size of a mobile phone) weighing 175g, 15W USB-A for fast charging for passengers’ electronic devices, a single seat box (USP) to support USB-C up to 60W, Intelligent Power Sharing and Usage Data Collection, and a total system weight from 200g per seat.
