Moment, an in-flight digital technology supplier, has acquired Airfree, an expert in in-flight e-commerce systems. With this deal, Moment gains Airfree’s inflight retail technologies, which are connected to more than 350 duty-free stores worldwide. Passengers can access and order a selection of products via their seatback IFE screens or their personal devices, pay securely in real time, and choose from several delivery options, whether on board, at the airport or directly to their home.
Airfree, founded in 2016, uses a patented technology designed to optimise in-flight connectivity bandwidth. This technology enables airlines to offer a high-performance service in real time, even under restricted connectivity conditions, ensuring a steady access to a source of ancillary revenue. Airfree systems are used by airline clients including Singapore Airlines, with plans underway to deploy the technology in other sectors, particularly rail and maritime.
“In a rapidly transforming transport sector, marked by major decarbonisation challenges, we must constantly innovate to accelerate the digitalisation of on-board services and operations, for the benefit of passengers and airlines alike,” stated Tanguy Morel, CEO of Moment. “This initiative enables us to take a technological step forward in e-commerce and marketplace, while strengthening our range of innovative solutions.”
