BSI (the British Standards Institution) has acquired AirCert GmbH, a specialist aerospace certification company located in Munich, Germany. The exact terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed, only that it will see AirCert become an operating subsidiary of BSI’s assurance business and operate under the name ‘AirCert – A BSI Assurance Company’.
According to BSI, AirCert will complement its strategy to offer a wider range of products and services to the aerospace and defense sector, a key strategic area for BSI. This partnership enhances BSI’s offering by expanding the reach of its existing DACH business (i.e. Germany, Austria and Switzerland). The acquisition of AirCert broadens BSI’s presence in the DACH market and also gives BSI membership of the group of specialist aerospace certification bodies that are accredited to DAkkS (the German accreditation body), complementing its existing UKAS and ANAB accreditations.
Howard Kerr, Chief Executive at BSI stated, “Our overall vision as we integrate AirCert’s operations, people and office into the BSI fold is to create a new BSI ‘center of excellence’ for aerospace clients for the whole of the DACH region. From this base in Munich, Germany, we envisage expanding our products and services into Austria and Switzerland. This latest acquisition reinforces our commitment to encouraging organizational resilience across our client base. To ensure we remain a resilient organization – one that is agile, adaptive, robust and competitive – we will continue our ambitious growth strategy by including further quality acquisitions like AirCert that will naturally integrate into our business.”
