STG Aerospace, a UK=based supplier of emergency exit marking and cabin lighting systems for aircraft interiors, has been acquired by Heads-Up Technologies Inc (HUT). HUT, a Dallas-headquartered aerospace company, specialises in innovations that improve the pilot and passenger experience, including interior and exterior lighting systems, cabin management systems, in-flight entertainment, and flight deck safety. The deal, for an undisclosed sum, is backed by JLL Partners, an established New York based private equity business.
STG’s systems are well-known in the aviation industry, with the company’s latest launches including the liTeMood LED cabin lighting system, and ‘saf-Tglo SSUL-X11a’, claimed to be the narrowest floor-path marking system on the market. The acquisition by HUT is intended to enhance the company’s offer to the market by enabling joint R&D and combined product catalogues for airlines and OEMs.
“After two successful decades establishing STG as a world leader in aircraft cabin lighting, we are now moving to the next exciting phase of our growth, stated Grant Bennett, CEO of STG Aerospace. “Under the new ownership, STG will continue to operate with a high level of autonomy, building on its strong brand and highly skilled team. Designing high-quality emergency & cabin lighting systems that utilise our deep expertise and proprietary technology to create innovative solutions, is our goal. Combining the expertise and products of both Heads Up Technologies and STG Aerospace makes an exciting solution set.”
The message or STG customers is that the deal brings an enhanced ‘business as usual’ in terms of service, innovation and delivery. Robert Harshaw, president and CEO of HUT added, “We are thrilled to welcome the STG Aerospace team to Heads Up Technologies to leverage our collective lighting solutions to meet critical OEM and operator needs across the entire aviation market. STG Aerospace’s concept-to-certification capability and extensive intellectual property are excellent complements to Heads Up Technologies’ portfolio of lighting innovations.”
