Bucher has shipped the first set of fully customised galleys, stowages and partition walls to Airbus Toulouse for integration into Uganda Airlines’ newly delivered A330-800neo. The regional airline’s fleet currently consists of four Bombardier CRJ 900s and now two Airbus A330-800s for long-haul routes.
Uganda Airlines tasked Bucher with creating cabin products that would enable it to provide the best service possible for passengers. Bucher responded by developing features including flower holders in the business class cabin, and provisions for easy adaption of the galley layout for new catering requirements that may emerge in the future, such as increased oven capacity or the installation of wine chillers. The customised decoration of the monuments will provide a warm welcome to passengers. The galleys have a lightweight construction, using aluminium, composite and carbon fibre materials.
Commenting on the order, Ephraim K. Bagenda, Uganda Airlines’ director of maintenance, commented that the order marks the start of a new working relationship between the companies.
