In response to heightened awareness of hygiene and safety during the Covid-19 pandemic, touchless lavatory features were identified as a key part of Airbus’ Keep Trust in Air Travel programme, launched to give passengers more confidence in cabin hygiene and encourage them back to the skies. The programme has now been renamed the ‘Health Onboard Mission’ as the aviation industry moves from the stage of responding to the pandemic, to creating long-term hygiene measures. The good news for the cabin industry is that Airbus is working with partners.
As the latest step in the hygiene initiative, Airbus is cooperating on the marketing and supply of Diehl’s touchless lavatory for all A320 Family and A330ceo aircraft. These will complement existing and developmental line-fit touchless options.
The touchless kit, which has the same part number for a wide range of Airbus aircraft types, comprises a water faucet, waste flap, lid and flush buttons, with further customisation options. The lavatories also come with a conversion kit that enables installation of the complete lavatory kit during an overnight stop.
