FACC Operations GmbH has reported that it has successfully concluded EASA certification and gained EASA Part 21 – Subpart J – Design Organization Approval (DOA). This makes FACC an approved Design Organization within the European aviation industry, authorized to independently develop and approve designs for modifications and repairs.
Approval was granted by EASA after FACC, in coordination with the Austrian Aviation Authority (Austro Control GmbH) had demonstrated fulfillment of all the relevant requirements during the course of the approval process. With this approval it is now possible for FACC to modify aircraft components, approve repair instructions and establish and publish amendments to aircraft flight manuals. Approval was granted for CS-23 normal, utility, aerobatic and commuter aeroplanes and CS-25 large aeroplanes. As an approved Design Organization (DO), FACC is monitored by the authorities and audited by Austro Control at regular intervals as well.
Hermann Filsegger, head of design organization at FACC, said of the certification, which marks the third EASA approval for FACC alongside the company’s existing approvals as a production and maintenance organization, “This Design Organization Approval opens up new areas of the aviation business for FACC. Not only our long-standing OEM customers, but also airlines themselves will benefit from us being able to directly offer them an expanded range of services along the whole aircraft lifecycle, from design and development to production and extending to maintenance and technical publications”.
