Keeping pace with the impressive growth at one of the largest airports in China, LSG Sky Chefs has opened a new catering facility at Nanjing Lukou International Airport. The airport operator is also the joint venture partner of LSG Sky Chefs, the world’s largest provider of in-flight services, at this location.
The 5,000 square-meter unit can produce up to 20,000 meals per day and is designed to meet the predicted growth of the airport through to 2030. Lukou International is one of the top 15 airports in China, with 1,350 departures per week to three regional destinations, 56 major domestic cities and 22 international airports.
The airport has also just opened a new terminal and an additional runway that can accommodate the A380. Thanks to these developments, it will have an estimated capacity of 30 million passengers by 2020.
“This project is a long-term investment which proves that we truly believe in the growth and prosperity of Nanjing,” said HK Cheung, LSG Sky Chefs’ regional COO for the Asia/Pacific region.
LSG Sky Chefs’ joint venture with Nanjing Lukou International Airport was established in 1998 and renewed in 2011 with a new 15-year contract – two years before the expiration of the existing partnership agreement.
