Cox & Co, a UK-based single-origin chocolate brand, has secured a six-month contract to supply Virgin Atlantic with its Bee Pollen & Honey flavour chocolate bars.
Virgin Atlantic’s passengers will be able to enjoy 25g bars on all flights from this month as part of the onboard complimentary menu. The rich dark chocolate bars contain 60% Colombian cacao (ethically sourced) and are blended with honey and a sprinkling of bee pollen for the right balance of sweet and bitter flavours. There is a hint of sustainability too, as Cox & Co is the first UK chocolate brand to use recyclable paper-flow wrap packaging.
“This is a huge moment for Cox & Co, to have our bars onboard Virgin Atlantic,” said Gavin Cox, founder of Cox & Co. “As an independent chocolate brand, this opens up the opportunity to get our chocolate into the hands of a whole new customer base, and it also debuts our 100% recyclable paper flow wrap, which is the first of its kind in the UK confectionery market.”
The high-grade paper flow wrap is claimed to have a 65% lower climate impact than plastic wraps and is fully biodegradable, reducing Cox & Co’s carbon footprint by minimising the need for secondary packaging.
“We believe this new partnership with Virgin Atlantic is a perfect match, with our collective drive towards sustainability and the brands’ actions to reduce our environmental impact. Our paper flow wrappers offer an eco-alternative, providing a recyclable wrapping that reduces the amount of waste for the airline,” added Gavin Cox.
