Bluebox Aviation Systems has announced it is set to become a member of Viasat’s Connected Partner Platform, which hosts applications designed to enrich the passenger experience through onboard retail, destination bookings, entertainment, and more.
Under an agreement between the companies, Bluebox’s Blueview Retail solution will be available to airlines using Viasat’s in-flight connectivity-powered digital products. Blueview Retail is a digital solution that provides order-to-seat capability directly through passenger devices.
According to Bluebox, airline deployments have demonstrated a 10% to 20% increase in retail revenue when order-to-seat is available. Notably, 70% of total onboard transactions typically occur through the system, highlighting a passenger preference for the convenience of ordering from their own devices throughout the entire flight journey, rather than waiting for the trolley service.
Integrated with Viasat’s in-flight connectivity infrastructure, Blueview Retail can function as a stand-alone system or integrate within existing airline retail ecosystems. The platform supports various onboard offerings, including food and beverage and duty-free products, enhancing passenger engagement and driving ancillary revenue.
Additional features include airline-branded experiences, personalised retail promotions, and Viasat-powered advertising placements integrated within the retail interface.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Viasat through their Connected Partner Platform,” said Kevin Clark, CEO of Bluebox Aviation Systems. “This collaboration opens exciting new opportunities for Bluebox to deliver powerful onboard retail experiences to airlines worldwide, proven ways to enhance passenger engagement and help to significantly drive onboard monetisation.”
