Aircraft interior products supplier, Jamco America, has entered into a partnership with Sekisui Kydex, a thermoplastics expert, to create a modular and textured branding panel for use on Alaska Airlines’ aircraft cabin bulkheads. The suppliers have created a pressure-formed panel with a new design motif that is inspired by the Spirit of the North, which adds a touch of modern heritage to the cabin, reflecting the airline’s base in Pacific Northwest America.
Jamco’s modular decorative panels, as used for Alaska Airlines’ aircraft cabin bulkheads, are designed to enable airlines to add depth to the way they showcase their brand elements in an aircraft interior. A custom-coloured Kydex thermoplastic from Sekisui Kydex has been applied to the bulkhead panels, a durable and recyclable material that can withstand impacts from high foot traffic. If a panel does become damaged, it can be easily maintained or replaced. Sekisui Kydex says the thermoplastic allows for a more textured and visually appealing surface than typical laminates.
“We were delighted to partner with Jamco America and Alaska to identify a bespoke solution to communicate the airline’s brand attributes in one of the most visible areas of the cabin,” said Karyn McAlphin, creative design lead for Sekisui Kydex.
Sekisui Kydex’s thermoforming tool also enabled the team to incorporate an on-brand texture to help convey the airline’s warm welcome.
“The aesthetically pleasing and textured Aura Line panels add depth and a touch of Alaska’s natural beauty to the cabin experience, aligning with the airline’s commitment to genuine and high-quality service,” said John Cornell, director of research & development and information systems at Jamco America.
