China Southern Airlines has appointed international design agency, Tangerine, to design the cabin interiors for its next-generation wide-body and narrow-body flagship aircraft.
As part of its ongoing fleet modernisation programme, China Southern Airlines is introducing new A350-900 and A321NX aircraft, which will serve as the carrier’s flagships.

Tangerine is designing the interiors of 10 A350-900s and 20 new-generation A321NX aircraft for China Southern. The A350-900 cabins will feature four private suites, 24 independent business class seats, based on Thompson Aero Seating’s VantageXL+, for which China Southern is launch customer, as well as 307 economy-class seats. The A321NXs will have 12 business-class seats and 171 economy-class seats.

Tangerine is also customising the graphical user interface (GUI) of the in-flight entertainment (IFE) systems, to complement the new cabin interiors and create a cohesive brand journey.
Tangerine’s creative vision for the cabins is a modern interpretation of Chinese elements, seamlessly integrated with the comfort and service expectations of today’s travellers.
Weiwei He, director at Tangerine, said of the project: “The new interior design will evoke a distinctly oriental theme, highlighting China Southern’s core brand values of ‘affinity’ and ‘refinement.’ Our goal is to create a cabin interior that resonates with passengers worldwide while proudly celebrating China Southern Airlines’ rich cultural heritage.”
