To mark the arrival of its latest Airbus A350 aircraft, Hong Kong Airlines has upgraded its business class cabins with a refreshed look, a new seat, and upgraded IFE. The 33 seats, arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration, are a customized version of the popular Rockwell Collins ‘Super Diamond’.
Hong Kong Airlines partnered with Thales Group to install Android-based AVANT IFE systems on the A350 fleet (and its A330s), with 17in widescreen monitors as well as touch-enabled integrated handsets. The airline has also opted for Ka-band connectivity systems from Thales.
Wang Liya, Hong Kong Airlines’ vice chairman and president stated, “Our latest business class offering and state-of-the-art inflight entertainment system is the result of an ambitious effort to revamp our premium services for our customers. These are significant investments for the company.”
The new A350 business class product will be deployed on the Bangkok route for crew familiarization during its first month of operation (September 2018). Following that, the aircraft will serve Los Angeles regularly.
