According to Lufthansa Technik, its completion center in Hamburg, Germany has finished the VVIP cabin conversion of a Boeing 747-8 and delivered the aircraft to an undisclosed customer. Another aircraft of this type is currently undergoing completion at the center.
In the past the company equipped 14 aircraft of the predecessors to the current Boeing 747-8. “The delivery of this second B747-8 is another milestone for us in the area of VVIP completions for wide-body aircraft. We have handed over an individually designed, state-of-the-art aircraft fitted with high-quality materials to meet the most discerning demands in terms of exclusivity and comfort,” stated Walter Heerdt, senior vice president of VIP & executive jet solutions at Lufthansa Technik.
According to the company, the cutting edge design of the 440 square meter cabin contrasts strongly with classic design of the airframe. In addition to many new features and innovations, several materials were also used for the first time that posed significant challenges for the engineers. The integrated cabin management and on-board entertainment system offers the latest standard in entertainment and communication. This includes, for example, broadband Internet, GSM, WLAN, Live TV and satellite communication.
