8 April saw KID-Systeme celebrate the 500th shipset delivery of its Airbus ALNA (Air Line Network Architecture) connectivity platform. The technology used for ALNA provides the basis for KID-Systeme’s SKYfi modular onboard connectivity technology.
ALNA, which was the first line-fit connectivity solution from an aircraft manufacturer, enables passengers to use their own wireless communication devices during flight, and the system provides the platform for both airborne mobile telephony and internet services. Overall, 700 ALNA shipsets have been ordered by a wide range of legacy and low-cost carriers.
Patrick Schrot, general manager of KID-Systeme, said, “The take-up of ALNA has been immense. There are installations across all Airbus family aircraft types, as well as STC installations on Boeing 777s and 737s. With more than 40 ALNA customer airlines worldwide, this is an achievement of which the whole team at KID-Systeme can be very proud.”
