Recaro Aircraft Seating has unveiled the newest addition to its portfolio at Aircraft Interiors Expo, the PL3810 premium economy class seat for widebody aircraft.
Recaro says the design is the result of extensive market and observational research, with features including a single-leaf table, a 4.5in-wide centre armrest, a six-way adjustable headrest with privacy wings, a 9in recline with articulation, and a calf-rest. The company says that as well as being more comfortable, the PL3810 weighs 10% less than its predecessor, the PL3530.
Recaro is showing its full product lineup at the Expo, with an interesting feature being the Innovation Station, which demonstrates the company’s smart technology and sustainability initiatives. The centrepiece is the ‘R Horizon’ concept – a business-class seat in a new trim and finish scheme of wood and marble, and integrated smart cabin technology created in collaboration with partners from various industries, including Panasonic Avionics.
Recaro is also showing the ‘R Sphere’ seat concept, which has a focus on sustainability. Built as a result of a recent life cycle assessment, the seat is constructed using lightweight and recyclable materials such as cork, wood, fishing nets and cactus. The aim of the prototype is to develop a model to collect and track feedback that will be used to make future Recaro products more sustainable.
