Recaro Aircraft Seating has won gold in the ‘Public Design’ category of the German Design Awards 2016, with its CL3710 economy class seat. The German Design Council honors exceptional international design with its gold premium award.
“It’s a great feeling to be honored with one of the most prestigious design awards ever,” stated Dr Mark Hiller, CEO of Recaro Aircraft Seating, who accepted the award together with Oliver Forgatsch, head of ergonomics & design. Christoph Schürg, team leader for industrial design, André Gärtner, industrial designer, and Christian Keck, manager of global marketing, all from Recaro Aircraft Seating, were also present at the event.
According to Recaro, the CL3710 is the first seat to have been modularly developed and customized to meet individual customer requirements. “The seat stands out with its exceptional design, functionality and innovation. No fewer than 18 patent applications were filed during the product’s development,” stated Hiller.
