Mirus Aircraft Seating has had an eventful time at Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) in Hamburg this week, launching its Hawk Duo reclining economy-class seat and Falcon long-range economy seat (details below). The UK-based aircraft seat manufacturer had a little something extra lined up though: a first look at Osprey, a concept that could form the basis for its entry into the premium economy sector. Mirus is showing the concept via VR to gain initial feedback from airline and airframer visitors at AIX.
We haven’t seen the full concept yet, but the company indicates it is an ergonomic, contemporary design that could serve as a premium economy seat, or be packaged as a business or domestic first-class seat for the Airbus A320 family or Boeing 737 single-aisle aircraft, and to complement its family of economy seats.
Adam Challenor, technical director at Mirus, says of the concept, “Osprey provides Mirus with a unique opportunity to bring our well-established expertise in lightweight and comfortable economy seating further forward into the cabin with premium economy for single aisle. We’ve relished in the challenge to bring our Mirus design and engineering DNA to a brand-new seat class, and we’re very proud of the results.”
Mirus says that Osprey design offers good levels of privacy through its seatback design and wraparound surfaces, plus “generous and innovative” storage solutions for PEDs, water bottles, phones and more. The Osprey seat also features a large centre console, the option of a large IFE screen, and various customisation options.
“At this year’s AIX, we’re holding viewings of Osprey through virtual reality. This will enable us to be more agile and to deliver a seat with a higher level of design maturity and to react to feedback from our customers on key areas of the design, ready for the next phase of design and development,” added Challenor.
Mirus Aircraft Seating is offering viewings by invitation to airlines and airframers at AIX (Hall 6, Stand 6A70). To arrange a viewing, delegates can email sales@mirus-as.com.
Hawk Duo: a new reclining economy seat,
Mirus has also quietly launched Hawk Duo, its new reclining economy-class seat for single-aisles, at Aircraft Interiors Expo this week. We can’t share a picture, but we can share a few details.
According to Mirus, Hawk Duo weighs less than 8.5kg/PAX – more than 20% lighter than its predecessor model. The seat could suit operators of mainline Airbus and Boeing single-aisle aircraft with full-recline economy cabins, or as a more premium offering when paired with its Kestrel fixed-recline seat in economy. Hawk Duo is expected to be certified later this year, for first deliveries in Q1 2026.

Mirus has shared that the design has sculpted seating surfaces, which have undergone rigorous design, pressure mapping and testing procedures. The seat also has a low parts count for weight and reliability in service, with the team avoiding layering components together. Mirus says the seat has undergone higher than typical abuse and cyclic testing during development, at Mirus’s M-Test on-site dynamic testing facility.
Marcus Williams, sales & marketing director at Mirus says that Hawk Duo is based on the company’s standard Kestrel seat platform, with the recline and feature options added that are typically expected of a mainstream economy seat, including power/USB integration, PED holders, various comfort foam and headrest options, and dress cover customisation options. Hawk Duo also has slimline armrests to maximise seat width and space, and a 5in mechanical recline.
Falcon long-range economy seat launched
Mirus has also unveiled its new Falcon long-range economy seat at AIX, a model which marks Mirus now offering an economy seat solution in every aircraft category. The seat is suitable for single-aisle and twin-aisle long-range aircraft including the Airbus A321XLR, A330 and A350 and the Boeing 737MAX and B787.
Initially available for retrofit, and with line-fit optionality underway with major airframer manufacturers, Falcon features include a 27° recline, an articulated seat pan, and fully integrated 13in IFE options. The seat can be customised with different headrest, stowage, comfort and branding options.

Marcus Williams said at the reveal: “having had the opportunity to show Falcon behind closed doors to a select group of airlines, OEM and industry experts during the last two [AIX] expos, we’ve listened to the feedback from those who will actually use the seat.
“We’re now confident we’re launching the best seat in its class, and based on early feedback of the final design we expect it to really challenge the more established seats that are available now. With airlines across the board telling us that they desperately want new seat options to consider in this segment, we’re excited to see how it can disrupt the marketplace and drive Mirus’ growth further.
