Israel-based travel group, Israir, became launch customer for the Pitch PF3000 economy-class seat in early 2018, fitting it to three Airbus A320 aircraft, each with 150 seats in a 3+3 configuration at a 30in pitch. The aircraft are operated on scheduled and charter flights to various destinations in Europe and Israel.
The airline has placed a new order with Causeway Aero Group for the fifth A320 to join its fleet, which has just completed a lease transition check and cabin reconfiguration at the BCT Aviation MRO facility in Shannon, Republic of Ireland.
The timescale from receiving the order to delivering the seats for this latest project was rather short, at just two weeks. Causeway Aero has a standard production lead time of six weeks, but says that the timeframe was achievable because it is used to the tight time constraints of leasing companies, MROs and airlines, who often need to get aircraft back into service as soon as possible. Thus the company always holds a shipset of PF3000s in stock. It also helped that Causeway Aero’s Lisburn facility is only four hours by road from Shannon and its MRO cluster, and only two hours from Dublin, where around half of the world’s major leasing companies are headquartered.
Shlomi Sharabani, VP of procurement & operations at Israir said, “The PF3000 has performed extremely well in the time it has been in service, with passengers really appreciating the design, comfort and living space it provides, while the airline has found it to be very robust and easy to maintain, with excellent product support from Causeway.”
