August 2, 2017 – Bühler Motor, a manufacturer of mechatronic drive systems with DC-/BLDC small motors and gear motors, actuators and pumps, has acquired Dornier Technologie Systems, a manufacturer of electronic and pneumatic components and systems for aircraft cabins, with a particular focus on aircraft seats. The acquisition also includes the takeover of Dornier Technologie GmbH & Co. KG and Dornier Technologie Beteiligungs GmbH.
Bühler Motor and Dornier Technologie have already worked together to develop an electric seat actuation system with PAXCOM. “The takeover will make use of existing synergies, shorten decision-making pathways and, we are certain, further strengthen and expand our market position in the area of electrical aircraft seats. As a system supplier, the Bühler Motor Group is now in a position to offer seat manufacturers worldwide all electrical seat components from one source”, stated Peter Muhr, CEO of Bühler Motor GmbH.
“With this takeover by Bühler Motor, I feel that Dornier Technologie and the team will be in the best of hands in the future, both technologically and commercially. As part of the Bühler Motor Group, Dornier Technologie will be able make full use of its global presence, with locations in Europe, Asia and North America”, added Iren Dornier, sole proprietor of the Dornier Technologie companies to date.
Dornier Technologie’s site at Uhldingen-Mühlhofen, Germany will continue to operate and will be developed into a center of competence for aviation.
