The organisers of Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX), the world’s biggest event dedicated to aircraft cabin innovation, has shared details of the 2025 event, which returns to Hamburg Messe, Germany, from 8-10 April. The three-day show will provide a platform for airlines and the cabin interiors sector to meet and shape the future passenger experience.
The aircraft interiors industry market size is set to reach US$8.83 billion by 2030, with the driving factors including a growing commitment to sustainability, inclusivity and enhanced passenger experiences. Last year’s Aircraft Interiors Expo welcomed more than 12,000 attendees from across the globe, including representatives from 166 airlines. AIX 2025 is set to emphasise the critical themes of sustainability and accessibility, highlighting the industry’s dedication to creating a more responsible and inclusive future for air travel.
Key trends for AIX 2025
The urgency to address climate change has placed sustainability at the top of the aviation sector agenda. Airlines worldwide are setting ambitious Net Zero targets, and AIX 2025 will provide a platform to promote the innovations that can make these goals achievable. Exhibitors will present a wide array of sustainable solutions, from lightweight materials and bio-based plastics, to energy-efficient lighting systems and advanced cabin air management technologies.
These innovations are not merely incremental improvements; they represent a fundamental shift in how aircraft cabins are designed and manufactured, prioritising environmental responsibility at every stage of the process. Attendees can expect to see demonstrations of circular economy principles in action, with exhibitors showcasing products designed for recyclability and reuse. The focus on sustainable materials will extend beyond the cabin itself, encompassing everything from seat fabrics and carpets, to galley equipment and lavatory components.
Accessibility is another important consideration for the future of air travel. Creating a truly inclusive travel experience for all passengers, regardless of their physical abilities, is a key driver of innovation. AIX 2025 exhibitors will display a range of accessibility-focused solutions, including adaptive seating systems, wheelchair securement devices, and accessible lavatory designs. Exhibitors will also demonstrate advancements in sensory accessibility, such a tactile signage and audio descriptions, ensuring that all passengers can navigate the aircraft cabin environment with ease.

Yokohama Aerospace America (YAA) is a prime example of this commitment to accessibility, with plans to unveil a PRM (Passenger with Restricted Mobility) lavatory module for the Boeing 737. The design features touchless technology, a smart mirror, and foot-operated controls. YAA will also offer retrofit options for existing lavatories, including touchless upgrades and customisable design kits, making accessibility improvements achievable for a wider range of airlines.
Beyond sustainability and accessibility, every aspect of the cabin sector will be represented at AIX 2025 by a diverse range of exhibitors, from established industry giants to innovative start-ups. For example, Airbus will showcase its latest innovations in the A330neo cabin, emphasising cutting-edge design, passenger comfort and sustainable solutions. Airbus will also highlight its Airspace Link products, and a range of retrofit solutions designed to enhance and modernise aircraft cabins.
Meanwhile Schott will present its portfolio of ambient and functional lighting solutions, including the Opal Cover Reading Light, designed in collaboration with PriestmanGoode, and the flexible HelioCurve LED strip. These lighting solutions play a crucial role in creating a comfortable and inviting cabin environment.
The show will also welcome first-time exhibitors such as Robert Hofmann GmbH, a solutions provider with expertise in 3D printing and aerospace manufacturing, and Fraunhofer IPK, a research and development organisation specialising in production technology. Amerex Corp, a provider of safety and fire suppression systems, will also be exhibiting, highlighting the importance of safety in aircraft cabin design.
The demand for enhanced in-flight experiences is also driving innovation in areas such as seating design, in-flight entertainment (IFE), and the cabin environment. Exhibitors will showcase ergonomic seating solutions that prioritise passenger comfort and support, with features such as adjustable lumbar support, integrated massage functions, and personalised climate control.
For example, Changzhou Gas Spring will demonstrate its advanced pneumatic components and seat recline control systems. The quest for improved passenger well-being will also be reflected in innovations in cabin lighting, air quality systems and noise-reduction technologies. These advancements aim to create a more relaxing and enjoyable in-flight environment, reducing passenger stress and promoting a sense of well-being.
Pioneering IFEC
In-flight entertainment and connectivity (IFEC) continue to be a major focus at AIX, with the market consistently growing and set to reach US$11.7 billion by 2029. Passengers today expect seamless connectivity and a wide range of entertainment options, and airlines are investing heavily in IFEC technologies to meet these demands.
Thus AIX will again feature a dedicated IFEC Zone, showcasing the latest advancements in satellite connectivity, wireless streaming, and personalised entertainment systems. CesiumAstro, a new AIX exhibitor, will highlight its advanced satellite communication system that promises to deliver enhanced in-flight connectivity and entertainment experiences.
Attendees can expect to see demonstrations of high-speed internet access, live television streaming and immersive virtual reality entertainment options. The IFEC Zone will also highlight the growing trend towards personalised entertainment, with airlines offering passengers the ability to curate their own in-flight entertainment experiences.
Collaborate with industry visionaries
The Passenger Experience Conference (PEC), taking place on 7th April, the day before AIX opens, will provide a deep dive into the broader passenger experience landscape, with a comprehensive programme broken up into three ‘tracks’.

The Collaboration Initiatives track delves into key partnerships, with sessions on integrating rail and aviation, the e-VTOL passenger experience, and VIP travel trends, featuring experts from companies such as Tangerine, SkyTeam, Sora Aviation, and Greenpoint Technologies.
The Engagement Initiatives track focuses on crafting desirable passenger experiences, with sessions on experience-driven design, the passenger journey roadmap, digital experience strategies for the 2030s, and leveraging passenger feedback for ancillary revenue, featuring speakers from Icon Ventures, Panasonic Avionics, and Omnevo.
The Transformation Initiatives track examines ongoing projects and future-focused innovations, including the transformation of passenger experience in India, sustainable solutions in mass transportation, circularity in the cabin, and accessible air travel. This track features speakers from Air India, IndiGo, Adani Airport Holdings, Insperial Group, IBA Group, and Flying Disabled, among others.
