Gulf Air, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, has signed a ‘turn-key’ agreement with Avianor, whereby the company will assist in the upgrade of four of the airline’s A330‐200 fleet. This project will introduce all-new cabin seating, a refreshed interior as well as a “state of the art” IFE system to the Gulf Air long-haul fleet.
Under the terms of the contract Avianor will manage the programme and will be responsible for the engineering, certification and installation of this upgrade. The work will be performed at Avianor’s MRO facility located in Mirabel, Quebec, Canada starting spring 2014.
“Avianor has worked very closely with Gulf Air over the past year in helping define this project and we are very proud to have been selected to lead and implement this very important upgrade. Avianor’s strong team of 300 employees are committed 100% towards the success of this retrofit and to ensuring the project meets its completion deadline – the last quarter of 2014, ” said Earl Diamond, CEO of Avianor Inc.
Gulf Air’s acting CEO, Maher Salman Al Musallam, added, “At Gulf Air we strive to ensure we meet the needs and wants of our passengers, which is why we are embarking on an complete retrofit of our long‐haul fleet. Equally important to us is ensuring we select the best industry partners to support us with the successful execution of this project, and we believe Avianor in its capacity as “turn‐key provider” will do just that.”
