Following the unveiling of its A380 first-class seat, Qatar Airways has announced that it is upgrading its business-class seats and IFE on certain of its A330-200 and A320 fleet, in order to offer a more consistent customer experience.
The upgrade will bring in 180° lie-flat beds, six-way adjustable headrests, four-way adjustable lumbar support, a variety of stowage compartments, privacy dividers and fresh styling. Both aircraft types’ business cabins will feature 15.4in smart monitors and touchscreen handsets, PC Power, USB ports, and connectivity for smart devices. On the A330s, the IFE system is being upgraded to the Panasonic eX2 platform. The A330s will also be fitted with onboard connectivity, via the installation of the Panasonic Global Communications Suite. Both the A330 and A320 will also have the capability of sending and receiving SMS and MMS messages.
Modifications to the selected aircraft are underway (seven of the airline’s 16 A330-200s and nine of its 32 A320s), and the work is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2014.
