April 2014 saw the first A380 to be line-fitted with Panasonic broadband connectivity delivered to Lufthansa. The aircraft was fitted at Airbus with Panasonic’s Global Communications Services, and over the following 12 months, Panasonic will equip an additional 11 line-fit A380s with global connectivity services.
For the A380, the in-flight wi-fi system provides two-way broadband communications to an aircraft, and also enables other crew and passenger applications. The aircraft will also feature Panasonic’s live eXTV television service and a channel lineup that delivers Al Jazeera, BBC World News, CNBC, CNN International, EuroNews, NHK World Premium, Sky News Arabia and Sport 24, to passenger devices and high resolution displays in every seat.
