HAECO Cabin Solutions has announced that Cathay Pacific Airways will become the launch customer for its new Vector Y+ economy class passenger seat on its A350- 1000 fleet. The seat, designed for long-haul operations, is the latest model from the Vector seat platform featuring carbon fiber construction, recline with seat pan articulation and what HAECO bills as “industry-leading living space”. The seat was designed in conjunction with James Lee from Hong Kong-based design consultancy Paperclip Design – an interview with Lee is available HERE.
Leslie Lu, general manager for product at Cathay Pacific Airways, commented that the Vector Y+ seat was selected “after an intensive selection process, considering factors important to us such as product features, weight, passenger comfort and convenience. We have high confidence that HAECO has developed a long-haul seat platform which, working with the Cathay Pacific team, will be customized to deliver an enhanced experience for our customers.”
The Vector platform was formally launched at the Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg in April 2015 and the first order for the Vector Y model, designed for short-haul operations, was booked shortly thereafter. A third seat model is expected to be introduced in 2016 for premium economy cabins.
Kevin Carter, CEO of HAECO Americas and HAECO’s group director of cabin solutions, added, “We are thrilled that a prestigious and innovative airline like Cathay Pacific Airways has selected our new flagship Vector Y+ seat for its new A350-1000 fleet. I’m proud of the investment our designers and engineers made in Vector to deliver light weight, passenger comfort and low operating cost through durability. We are eager for Cathay Pacific and its passengers to experience the new seat as the fleet rolls out in coming years.”
