May 31, 2016 – Japan Airlines (JAL) has announced it will provide halal-certified Muslim meals on all international flights from Japan, starting June 1, 2016. The airline has been serving Muslim meals as a special option. Recently it received halal certification from Japan Islamic Trust, covering not only the ingredients used for its Muslim meals on these flights, but also its production methods, factory and dishware. JAL has moved to using disposable dishware with halal certification for these meals, to give its Muslim customers a sense of security.
The meals are available in all classes, and can be ordered by email or phone up to 24 hours before the scheduled departure time. Halal meals are also available on flights to Japan from Jakarta, Indonesia, and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
