TAP Portugal, the launch operator for the new A330-900neo and the Airspace by Airbus cabin architecture, has revealed that it has selected Bucher to provide the galleys and stowage units. According to Bucher, the development of these “highly customized cabin products” has reached the PDR milestone, with the company’s engineers focusing on weight reduction and space optimization without reducing durability reliability. The first of the airline’s 14 A330-900neos on order is scheduled for delivery in the second half of 2017.
TAP Portugal has also decided to refurbish seven of its A330-200s, including new galleys from Bucher, to replace the units the company installed on the aircraft over 10 years ago.
Joel Fragata, cabin interiors product manager at TAP Portugal commented, “The A330neo galleys specification is a new, big challenge. Bucher’s performance during the past years and the flexibility offered as well as the known quality were crucial for TAP Portugal during the selection process. We are sure that Bucher will deliver the most efficient galleys for this amazing aircraft and will permit TAP to have a successful entry into service”
