September 7, 2016 – Philippine Airlines will be introducing Lantal’s Pneumatic Comfort System (PCS) as the business class seat cushioning system for its reconfigured Airbus A330-300 aircraft, starting in the first quarter of 2017.
The system uses air-filled cushions, which the parties believe will offer greater passenger comfort than the foams currently installed on the 18 Thompson Vantage XL seats in PAL’s A330 business class cabins. Passengers can individually select their comfort level and activate a massage function. When moving from the taxi, take-off and landing position to the bed position, the PCS automatically selects the most comfortable firmness grade.
“PAL has opted for Lantal’s PCS because it offers passengers an unprecedented seating experience. With PCS, PAL will raise the bar of comfort in business class to the next level,” stated PAL’s senior VP for commercial, David Lim.
PCS is established in aviation, with Lantal having sold more than 10,000 seat cushion systems to date, though the PAL deal marks Lantal’s first customer deal in Asia. Earlier this year, Lantal also secured approval by Airbus and Boeing for use on all their commercial aircraft models, which simplifies future projects and expedites the program process.
