September 28, 2016 – UK-based seating manufacturer, Flying Service, has signed an agreement with Aerotechnics Group to manufacture spare parts for Flying Service seats currently in service. The venture will provide existing spare support and develop new opportunities for the Flying Service brand and products.
Flying Service recently halted seat production as it felt it could no longer compete in the current marketplace due to the growth of other manufacturers and the restrictions of opportunities surrounding Boeing and Airbus approvals for new line-fit seating products.
“Aerotechnics Group has recently been expanding with the acquisition of a number of interior companies such as Airbase UK and ServeCorp. The group has a large portfolio of airline customers and manufacturing bases, and with its facilities and EASA 21G and J approvals, is well positioned to support our products and customers,” commented Robert Burne, owner of Flying Service.
“The transfer of manufacturing drawings and expertise is currently ongoing, and as you can imagine with 60 years of drawings and knowledge this will be a great challenge for us. However, we hope to be able to offer a great service and innovation to previous Flying Service customers and hopefully attract new ones to the brand,” said Steve Cloran, CEO of Aerotechnics Group.
