November 15, 2016 – Portuguese airline TAP, is updating the seats on its short and medium-haul fleet with the SL3510 and BL3530 models from Recaro Aircraft Seating. The contract to equip the 41 aircraft included in the retrofit program amounts to more than 6,600 of the lightweight seats, with a claimed saving of up to 700kg per aircraft.
According to the parties, the new seating has enabled the cabin layout of the Airbus narrowbodies to be optimized, with 12 more seats fitted in the A319 and A320 cabins, and an additional 16 seats on the A321s.
