April 6, 2017 – Iacobucci HF Aerospace has collaborated with Pininfarina to create Cambiano, a medium-haul business class seat which is the company’s first foray into the business class sector, having previously only offered first class.
“The partnership with Iacobucci HF Aerospace has its roots in the common values we share: attention to detail, craftsmanship, elegance and innovation. We have been creating bespoke projects for 87 years and we are proud to bring our vision and expertise in the business class sector,” commented Paolo Pininfarina, chairman of Pininfarina.
At first glance, the automotive background of Pininfarina is clear, with the quilted Alcantara lining the backshell of the demonstrator seat reminiscent of the finishes in luxury cars. The design is contemporary and comfortable, with a fully flat bed at a 67in pitch, 18in IFE in a striking and elegant curved wraparound bezel, and stowage drawers under the ottomans large enough to accommodate a small carry-on bag – and enable airlines to consider not fitting overhead stowage. As a nice touch of detail, the stowage is also lined with Alcantara, while even the life vest compartment is leather-lined.
The demonstrator shows how Cambiano would look in an A320, with more options – and an on-sale date – to follow, once the single-seat version is completed. Aircraft Interiors International has more in-depth details of the seat, which will follow shortly.
