Jazz Aviation, which operates Air Canada Express services under a capacity purchase agreement with Air Canada, has chosen Expliseat’s lightweight TiSeat 2V seat for the cabin renewal programme for its 25 De Havilland Dash 8-400 aircraft.
The TiSeat 2V seats will be supplied in two different trims and finishes for Air Canada Express’s Preferred Economy and Standard Economy class cabins. The operator has opted to fit the seats with PED (personal electronic device) holders, a recline function, and 3D cushions.
A big driver of the decision was the light weight of the seat. The exact weight has not been disclosed, but Expliseat claims the carbon fibre and titanium structure can yield weight savings of up to 360kg per aircraft, depending on the model it is compared with.
“The investment in lighter and more sustainable seats for our Dash 8-400 fleet, which are fully customised to our rigorous Air Canada Express passenger experience standards, will reduce fuel consumption and lower emissions, demonstrating our commitment to minimising environmental impact and a greener future for aviation,” said Randolph deGooyer, president of Jazz Aviation.
