UK-based Mirus Aircraft Seating has launched a new derivative of its Hawk economy-class seat which is offerable for Boeing 737 models, and certified for multiple aisle widths. The Hawk model was previously only approved for the Airbus A320 family of aircraft, so this development doubles the range of aircraft types the seat is certified and available for.
The Hawk has an ergonomically sculptured form to maximise leg room and features a mechanical recline system, extending tray table and a choice of lower literature pockets.
Further customisation options include a range of sustainable seat cover materials, USB charging points, and a built-in device holder for smartphones or tablets. The seat is lightweight and is made primarily of recyclable materials. For an annual fee, an extended warranty is also available for the Hawk seat.
In other Mirus news, the company has also started construction of its new test facility in Norfolk, which it says is the largest commercially available in the UK. The 407m² facility, which is an extension to Mirus’s current 2,500m² head office site, will feature the latest testing technology, including a 30m-long dynamic test sled for destructive or non-destructive crash test applications, and will be suitable for both aviation and automotive testing.
