Egypt’s Air Cairo is fitting Moment’s Flymingo Box wireless IFE (W-IFE) systems across its fleet. Air Cairo is one of the fastest-growing airlines in Africa, and expects its fleet of Airbus A320-200 and Airbus A320-ceo & neo aircraft to grow to 15 aircraft by mid-2022, and to reach 19 aircraft by the end of 2024.
The airline was looking for a system that could passenger entertainment, as well as opportunities to generate ancillary revenues in-flight. A personalised digital traveller experience was considered essential, as an increasing number of passengers bring smartphones and tablets on board.
“We were on the lookout for a full-service IFE company that could support us in all aspects, from provisioning the hardware, to creating an engaging IFE portal and sourcing a variety of content.” said Hussein Sherif, chairman & CEO of Air Cairo.
The Flymingo Box server has the capacity for 100 simultaneous streaming sessions, with a seamless, multi-DRM and browser-based platform that gives passengers access to an international and Arabic catalogue of films, documentaries and podcasts.
“It’s a genuine enterprise system that supports our organisation’s safety, access controls and scalability requirements,” added Sherif.
The Air Cairo deal also marks Moment’s entry into the African and Middle East aviation market.
