SafeTouch, a clear antimicrobial film comprised of more than 60% copper, has been developed for installation on aircraft cabin touchpoints such as IFE displays, handrails and handles. The distributor of the film, Protective Film Solutions, says the film has been shown to kill 99.86% of E.coli and 99.85% of MRSA in biochemical tests conducted by BioLabs, a biochemistry laboratory. Tests on its ability to slow the spread of COovid-19 will begin when non-vaccine trials are permitted.
Protective Film Solutions says the clear film is non-toxic, widely recyclable, can be used on almost any surface, and continues to be effective even after repeated wear, for up to two years
“SafeTouch is undoubtedly a game-changing solution for airports and airlines, and indeed almost any industry looking to reduce transmission of respiratory viruses – be it for patients, customers or employees,” said Chris Gould, commercial director of Protective Film Solutions.
