LATAM reveals premium economy plans

LATAM Airlines Group has announced that it is installing premium economy class in all its Airbus A320 family of aircraft (A319, A320, A320neo and A321) serving national and international flights within Latin America. This new travel class will be available from 16 March, 2020 and will offer customers exclusive seating in the first three rows of the aircraft, a blocked middle seat for greater space and privacy (similar to ‘Eurobiz’), dedicated overhead bins for stowing hand luggage, and an onboard service differentiated from economy through offerings such as complimentary snacks and drinks.

The perks of LATAM’s premium economy continue at the airport, where priority check-in, an increased baggage allowance from one to three pieces (up to 23kg each), priority boarding, and priority baggage at the luggage claim. VIP lounge access is also available at Santiago, São Paulo/GRU, Lima, Bogotá, Miami and Buenos Aires with selected international flights.

Similar to the business class offer on many European routes with airlines such as British Airways, the middle seat is blocked for greater space and privacy

This product launch means that LATAM will offer a premium service across its entire network of 145 destinations in 26 countries across five continents. Premium economy will be available on all the airline’s 240-strong short-/medium-haul aircraft fleet (Airbus A320 family), and Premium Business on its long-haul aircraft fleet (Boeing 787, 777, 767 and Airbus A350).

Economy class passengers travelling on the A320 family fleet will continue to have the option to select LATAM+ seats (economy plus) on most flights, a paid upgrade that offers seats with increased legroom and reserved space in the overhead stowage bins.

Upon boarding LATAM’s A320 family fleet, premium economy passengers settle into the first three rows of seating

“Our goal is to continue being the first choice for customers in Latin America, and we are launching premium economy, one of the most radical changes in terms of travel experience in LATAM’s history,” said Paulo Miranda, chief customer officer at LATAM Airlines Group. “As part of our commitment to offering more options, flexibility and personalisation to serve all journey types, the introduction of premium economy will provide the possibility to choose a superior service on all our flights.”

LATAM premium economy customers will receive a differentiated onboard service, including complimentary snacks and drinks

Paulo Miranda recently joined LATAM, having previously served as chief experience officer at GOL. You can read his thoughts on the passenger experience in our exclusive interview HERE.

A new option for luxury on LATAM’s short- and mid-haul routes. Passengers can now choose economy, economy plus or premium economy
